Todayβs special word(s) is:Β celebrate
I love traditions. New or old. There is something comforting about the predictability of traditions. And even though you do them regularly, they still manage to be special. There are so many traditions around the holidays that I can’t even pick a favorite, but I will tell you about one that is near the top of the list. Our family makes a special cake or dessert for Jesus’ birthday. It isn’t always a cake because we know He likes variety. π Then we write down on pieces of paper what we are giving Him for His birthday and put them into a special tin. No one has to share what they wrote because, after all, these are gifts for Jesus. Then we light a candle, sing ‘happy birthday’ to Him, and enjoy the dessert.
Do you have special traditions for the holidays?

Since we got married a few years ago, we host a Christmas breakfast/brunch for the family. Not quite as much pressure as hosting a whole holiday meal, at least in my opinion

I enjoy having my family come for Christmas. Usually they don’t all come on the same day, but they all live within 3 1/2 hours of us, so they usually come for at least a day or two. My grandmother and mother used to make Swiss cookies and Swiss bread. Since they’ve passed on, one of my sisters usually makes the Swiss cookies, and she makes Swiss bread often during the year. She lives near me, so I often benefit from her baking!
That is so wonderful Winnie. You are very blessed. Thanks for sharing with us. π
A favorite tradition for us is opening our Christmas Eve pjs, putting them on and going for a late night ride around our city to look at Christmas lights.
How nice Amanda. Welcome to my website and thanks for commenting. π

We have a Jesus stocking. Throughout December when we see someone do a kind deed for us or another, we write it down and put it in the Jesus Stocking. On Christmas Eve we read them all and read the story of Jesus’ birth.
That is such a wonderful idea Laura. I love it! Thanks for sharing. π
A special tradition in our household is the ornaments we buy for each of our girls every year. We try to choose ones that somehow reflect their talents, interests or hobbies for that year.
