Todayβs book giveaway is for the inspirational historical fiction book A Sparrow in TerezinΒ by Kristy Cambron.
Synopsis from the back of the book:
Bound together across time, two women will discover a powerful connection through one survivor’s story of hope in the darkest days of a war-torn world.
Present Day — With the grand opening of her new art gallery and a fairy-tale wedding just around the corner, Sera James feels like she’s stumbled into a charmed life — until a brutal legal battle against fiance’ William Hanover threatens to destroy their future before it even begins. Now, after an eleventh-hour wedding ceremony and a callous arrest, William faces a decade in prison for a crime he never committed, and Sera must battle the scathing accusations that threaten her family and any hope for a future with the man she loves.
1942 — Kaja Makovsky narrowly escaped Nazi-occupied Prague in 1939 and was forced to leave behind her half-Jewish family. Now a reporter from The Daily Telegraph in England, Kaja discovers the terror has followed her across the Channel in the shadowy form of the London Blitz. When she learns Jews are being exterminated by the thousands on the continent, she has no choice but to return to her mother city, risking her life to smuggle her family to freedom and peace.
Connecting across a century through one little girl, a Holocaust survivor with a foot in each world, these two women will discover a kinship that springs even in the darkest of times. In this tale of hope and survival, Sera and Kaja must cling to the faith that sustains them and fight to protect all they hold dear — even if it means placing their own futures on the line.

I love Monet and got to see a few paintings at the Saint Louis Art Museum, when I lived in STL. I Also like some of Van Gogh’s especially Starry Night and Sunflowers. I like learning about the artists’ lives and the background of the paintings. Thanks for the chance to win.

I really like Monet, but I don’t really know much about famous artists. I appreciate the artist’s talent, but I can’t say any of them speak to me.
Thanks for commenting Dianne. π
The piece of artwork that means so much to me is the Statue of Liberty. My mom passed through her island and so did my grandparents. This lady has seen so much sadness as well as hope. I would love to hear what she has to say if she could talk.
That is a wonderful example of art speaking Danielle. When you think about the millions that have come to our country and she was the first thing they saw? Wow. That is powerful. Thanks for commenting. π
My husband is a great artist both in his drawings and in photography. It amazes me how he can take such awesome photos and then on top of that make them into wonderful works of art that are even better than the photos.
I love that Kay. Thanks for commenting. π
Our library often puts up art work done by our local High School students (painting, drawing, etc) and I think those are my favorite to see! The talent a lot of these young kids has is astounding π Other than that, I’m not really into art. Someone mentioned Thomas Kindkade and I think his is inspirational.
