Giveaway at Loraine D Nunley's website: At Every Turn by Anne Mateer #BookGiveaway

This week’s book giveaway is for At Every Turn by Anne Mateer.

From the back of the book:

Caught up in a whirlwind of religious enthusiasm, Alyce Benson impetuously pledges three thousand dollars to mission work in Africa. Now she just has to find a way to get the money.

Alyce harbors a secret passion for speed and automobiles, and she’s spent many an afternoon driving around the rustic track in the field behind her home. When she discovers that her father’s company has sponsored a racing car that will compete in several upcoming events–races in which the driver will be paid and could win as much as five thousand dollars in prize money–she conspires with her father’s mechanic, Webster, to train and compete.

But when her friends cast aspersions on Webster’s past, she realizes she may have trusted the wrong person with her secret. Will Alyce come up with the money in time, or will she have to choose between her hasty promise and the man who holds a piece of her heart?

  1. The mode depends on the distance. For a long trip, I’d choose a plane. But my car does nicely otherwise. As do my legs for a nice walk!

    1. When I think about walking long distances, I am reminded of the amount of walking that they did in Biblical times. I sure am glad for planes now. Thanks for commenting Kathryn and good luck!

  2. I rather travel by car. I do fly when necessary but I rather have my feet planted on the ground.

    1. If my feet are on the ground, I don’t have far to fall :o) – Thanks for commenting Stella and good luck!

  3. Sounds like my kind of book and of course the author has a great name! Thank you for sharing.

  4. My favorite mode of transportation…hmm I guess it would depend on where I am going. Airplane if I needed to go somewhere quickly and far away. Ocean liner if I had lots of time and had to go across an ocean. I like the train to see the scenery across the country. Car is good too as long as I am driving and can read my books. Altho if I were driving alone then I can listen to audio books. So really kind of like Marvin K Mooney, I could go just about any way possible. Thanks again for sharing.

  5. I like to travel by automobile.. Won’t do airplanes or ships. I would like to try
a train through the Rocky Mountains.

    1. A train through the Rockies? That sounds like so much fun with all of the beautiful scenery. Thanks for sharing Deanna and good luck!

  7. Traveling by car is my favorite way to travel. It allows me to stop and look around when I want. Travel at my own pace.

    1. That is one great benefit about car travel Cheryl. My husband and I like to explore by car. We hop in the car and just take a drive to see what’s around. Thanks for sharing and good luck!

  8. I actually like my two legs, if you count walking! 😉 But for longer distances, car. I love road trips too! Thanks for the giveaway!

    1. Sure, walking counts Annie! I definitely need to put more use into mine ;o) – Thanks for sharing and good luck!

  9. My favorite way to travel is by car. I have never flown in an airplane but don’t think that will happen either. This book sounds like a wonderful one to take an afternoon and enjoy some quality reading time.

    1. I like to travel by car as well Donna. My only problem is that I can’t combine a road trip with reading because I get car sick :o( – Thanks for commenting and good luck!

  10. I am going to say car. Mostly becasue my hubby and I recently got a new-to-us car and we went on a weekend road trip with it and loved it!! 😀

  11. It depends on where I am going! For a long trip, I prefer to fly! In my neighborhood, I walk! Biking is fun! But usually I use my SUV.

  12. My favorite mode of transportation is by car for sure. But if we are going on a vacation that is far away then we usually like to fly.

    1. I used to have an SUV Caryl. I have now worked my way back into a car. Sometimes I miss that SUV, especially when we have family visiting. Thanks for commenting and good luck!

  13. It depends on how much time I have. I like to drive if I have time, because there are so many things to see and do along the way. Otherwise I like to fly. Book sounds amazing.

  15. I guess that would have to be by car, but if I lived on a ranch or years ago, then it would definitely be by horse and carriage 😀
