Today’s book giveaway is for the inspirational romantic suspense book Dangerous Testimony by Dana Mentink.
Synopsis from Amazon:
Four weeks before she’s set to testify at a gang murder trial, someone is determined to make sure that Candace Gallagher Andrews never takes the stand. When nowhere is safe for the private investigator or her little girl, Candace turns to the only person she can trust—longtime friend and former navy SEAL Marco Quidel. For Marco, protecting Candace is not just another duty. As the trial date nears and the killer stalks ever closer, Marco knows fear for the first time—the fear of losing Candace and her daughter. But while Marco begins seeing Candace as more than just a friend, her late husband’s memory is never far from her mind. So he must keep Candace alive—and not get emotionally involved—long enough to put away a killer.

good reviews or if a author friend recommends it
Thanks for commenting Shelia and good luck! 🙂
I make a decision to read a new author for me if I like the synopsis, a friend or trusted blogger recs a book, and/or the reviews tell me a book’s well-written.
Thanks for sharing Danielle. Good luck! 🙂
I try new authors after reading reviews that are posted on blogs and online. A cover can also make me pick up the book to read the description of the story. I think covers are very important.
I agree Dianne. An eye-catching cover is sometimes the best way to get my attention. 🙂
Good reviews and recommendations from people I trust. Sometimes it is a goodreads giveaway. Other times the cover will make me want to read or not.
Thanks for commenting Jan. Good luck! 🙂
A recommendation from a trusted friend or blogger with similar reading tastes as mine. The cover, blurb, and reviews all come into consideration, also I’m more apt to try it if it’s a genre I enjoy.
Thanks for sharing Winnie. Good luck! 🙂
When the book sounds really good and I keep seeing it and hearing about it all over the place and if it has great reviews
Thanks for commenting Linda and good luck! 🙂
There are several reasons I read a new author. It can be a recommendation from a friend, a good review, an interesting synopsis or their being part of a multi-author series. I love finding new authors!
Thanks for sharing MomIsReading. 🙂
If I read about a book and it intrigues me I want to read it even if I’ve never heard of the author. Sometimes I will check out reviews on other books the author has written.
I read a blog recently where the author said that reviews were gold for them. I think that would be especially true for newer authors trying to build their readership, don’t you Gail?
