Giveaway at Loraine Nunley's website: Hallowed Halls by Hannah Alexander #BookGiveaway

This week’s book giveaway is for Hallowed Halls by Hannah Alexander.  You can check out my review for this book here (Hallowed Halls Review).

Where can I learn more about this author and their books?

Hannah Alexander, author website

With so many books on my TBR (To-Be-Read) list, I sometimes have a difficult time determining what I am going to read next.  Do you have that issue?  I wish there were more reading hours in my day.  I sometimes picture Heaven having a huge library where I can actually keep up with the TBR pile ;o)  I hope you don’t think that is sacrilegious of me.

I digress.

As I look at all of those wonderful books on my shelves (and the floor, and my kindles…), I wonder what makes me choose a particular book to read next.  Is it the author? The genre? The cover? How long it’s been out? Whether or not I have the full series (you know me and series books)?

What about you?  How do you pick what book to read next?

  1. I will first look for books that I have won so that I can read & review them. Second would be by the title or cover.

  2. I love to read new books from my favorite authors. I also enjoy new authors — I tend to look for suspenseful books that seem plausible or historical novels about timeframes that intrigue me. I prefer mysteries or a storyline that goes beyond just a romance. Covers do influence me, but the back cover is the clincher. Hannah Alexander is fabulous (is it ok to say ‘is’ instead of ‘are’ since this author is a team?!?!)

    1. LOL Susan, I think it’s okay to say ‘is’ for them. It is one thing that I love about their books – I forget that it is more than one person writing them. Thanks for sharing!

  3. The last year or so I’ve been doing a fair amount of reviewing books so I pick my next book on what needs to be reviewed the soonest! Occasionally I throw in a book or two from the library that are not on my review list!
I have favorite authors I try to read when their new books come out.

    1. Doing the reviews does have a way of making our choices a little clearer, doesn’t it Anne? I am actually reading Irish Meadows by Susan Anne Mason right now (loving it BTW!) because I need to do a review of her latest in that series, A Worthy Heart. Thanks for commenting!

  4. I have a ton of books and they all call to me so O pick the one with the loudest voice. Well, the one that entices me the most. It can change from day to day so by the time I finish a book I am confused as to what to read next.

  5. How do you pick what book to read next?

That is a good question. I always have a long list of books in my TBR pile. I follow many blogs that post about books. I also follow authors via email and social media, so I get a lot of book ideas that way. I also blog for many different blogger review programs/groups so I learn about many books that way as well. There are always so many choices and it is hard not to overbook myself. LOL. Happy Reading! And thanks for this giveaway!

    1. You’re welcome Sydney! I have my TBR list on a spreadsheet on my computer because I found myself getting doubles of books. It doesn’t help with choosing what to read next, but I feel a little more organized. Thanks for sharing!

  6. I have my favorite authors that I will read first. Others I will read because of reviews or just because I like the cover or the book sounds interesting to me at the time.

  7. I also some favorite authors, I read them first then just randomly pick one in myTBR pile which is small,I check mines out from library ,and if the storyline catches my attention that what I read sometimes I read two books at a time, get tired of one pick up the other one, sounds silly but I do that.
    Thanks for the giveaway.

    1. I don’t think that’s silly at all Elma. I have three books that I am reading at the moment. I keep one by my bed for night time reading, one that I kinda carry from room to room, and one on my kindle for when I am out and about. Thanks for sharing!

  8. I usually read all the books on one author at a time, but when I look for a new one, I read the reviews and comments from my friends on FB and most of the time that works out quite well and I enjoy the book they suggested.

    1. Friend recommendations do make a difference Sally. I like to read all of the books in a series at one time, so I will read one author in that respect. Thanks for commenting!

  9. I receive quite a few books to review and keep a spreadsheet on when they are due. When I am caught up on them, I try to read books I’ve borrowed from friends so I can return them! But I also borrow books from the library when I see new books by my favorite authors. I enjoy a wide variety of genres.

    1. You keep a spreadsheet too Joan? There are times when I just pick an author by alphabetical order. Particularly if I am trying new authors. Thanks for sharing!

  10. 99% of what I read are e-books . . . and so I normally go to the end of what shows up on my screen and read it . . . unless it is something I REALLY want to read now.

    1. I bounce back and forth between hard copies and e-books Bonny. For some reason my e-book list doesn’t feel as daunting as the ones on my bookshelves! Thanks for stopping by!

  11. Depends on my mood. My go to genre is mystery/suspense. I am trying to work my way through my TBR mountain…. Thanks for the giveaway!

    1. Hi Caryl! Yeah, mood plays into my decisions many times. Sometimes I just need to switch genres. Thanks for commenting!

  12. Hmmmm….. Sometimes it’s the cover that grabs me, or a recommendation from others – or it’s one of my favorite authors. Many different things can influence my choice for a new read! 🙂

    1. Do you find that all those choices made the decision tough Wenona? Sometimes I just stand in front of my bookcase and wait for one of the books to hop up an down shouting “Pick me! Pick me!” Thanks for sharing!

  13. I usually choose books by the blurb. I love Christian and Historical Fiction! There is so much to choose from, but I do have my favorite authors. If I spot something new by one of these authors, I will grab it as quick as I can. I also like to read books that are part of a series in order so I don’t forget what happened. I have so many books on my kindle and I subscribe to so many websites to keep up to date on new books. Thank you for the chance to win! Hannah Alexander is one of my favorites!

  14. I usually try to finish a series of books before starting another book. When I need to choose what to read next, I generally pick an author I’ve seen featured posted by other authors or reviews.
