Giveaway at Loraine Nunley's website: Hearts Made Whole by Jody Hedlund #BookGiveaway @lorainenunley

This weeks book giveaway is for the inspirational historical romance book Hearts Made Whole by Jody Hedlund.

What is this book about?

After her father’s death, Caroline Taylor has grown confident running the Windmill Point Lighthouse. But in 1865 Michigan, women aren’t supposed to have such roles, so it’s only a matter of time before the lighthouse inspector appoints a new keeper — even though Caroline has nowhere else to go and no other job available to her.

Ryan Chambers is a Civil War veteran still haunted by the horrors of battle. He’s secured the position of lighthouse keeper mostly for the isolation — the chance to hide from his past is appealing. He’s not expecting the current keeper to be a feisty and beautiful woman who’s angry with him for taking her job and for his inability to properly run the light. When his failings endanger others, he and Caroline realize he’s in no shape to run the lighthouse, but he’s unwilling to let anyone close enough to help. Caroline feels drawn to this wounded soul, but with both of them relying on that single position, can they look past their loss to a future filled with hope… and possibly love?

  1. Something I’ve done that surprises people is being a published author.

  2. When I was in college, I was one of the first female construction flaggers. My sister and I worked near Yellowstone Park, and we got our pictures in newspapers and on a construction magazine cover. It was a novelty back then.

  3. My husband and I are blessed with four children. No one would have guessed we’d have four…..

  4. That I moved to another state after I got married and ended up living in Chicago.

  5. My friends and family were very surprised when I took a job as a security guard.

  6. That I flew in a helicopter over Niagara Falls AND that it was my idea. I have a great fear of heights. 🙂

  7. On one of our anniversary trips my husband and I visited an aquarium we found while we were out and about doing “touristy” things. Well, we got to pet two sharks! Okay, not that ones that bite you of course, HAHA! One was a leopard shark and the other a nurse shark that they let swim around in a big pool. I think they loved to be “petted” because as they swam by you, they’d rub up against your hand. So cool!

Thank you for the giveaway chance, Loraine!

  8. I think people that I knew were surprised at me when I became a bank manager. It was a large bank and I worked my way up, but it isn’t the field one would think I’d be interested in. Believe it or not, my interest in finance began when Santa left me a cash register as a little girl!

    1. What is nice story Sally. Isn’t it funny how our childhood experiences are reflected in our adult lives? Thanks for sharing. 🙂

    1. Oh Merry. I’m so sorry that you’ve been through that, but I’m really happy that you came through it. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. 🙂

  9. We raised 8 children and then raise a friends child in our 50s. It surprised me too!

    1. My goodness Carol. I can’t imagine raising any more children than my own. That is really special. Thanks for sharing. 🙂

  10. I’ve enjoyed some of Jody’s earliest books but haven’t read any in the past couple of years. For some reason she fell off my radar. Thanks for the review. I’m going to add her to my to read list.

  11. I taught elementary school and became a top producing Realtor all at the same time.

  12. Some of my family were surprised to learn that I can sing and have done so publicly for many years (not famously, of course). Several people have been surprised to learn that I have 10 grandchildren when they thought I might only have 2 🙂

  13. My husband and I just recently retired and sold our business. This surprised our customers somewhat, I think they thought we would always be there.

  14. It surprised people that I was a supervisor at a fast food restaurant and got robbed three times in the 7 months I was there. I quit for a safer job as a checker at a huge grocery.
I guess it is also surprising that I held down a full time job and homeschooled two kids while my hubby got his doctorate and he also taught at the college level.
