Permanently disabled by the accident, Wayne Lambright struggles to take care of herself. He can’t imagine being able to be the kind of husband his fiancee, Loraine Miller, needs. Determined to sacrifice his happiness to give her a better life, he breaks their engagement.

Loraine refuses to believe Wayne doesn’t love her anymore. But when her old boyfriend Jake Beechy returns from exploring the English world, Wayne does everything in his power to help Jake regain Loraine’s love.

For better or worse, Loraine wants to be Wayne’s wife, but if he won’t agree, should she promise her love to Jake? How will God work to bring Loraine the true desires of her heart?

A Cousin’s Prayer

During a trip to Hershey Park with friends and cousins, Katie Miller’s boyfriend, Timothy, is killed when their van is hit by a truck. Freeman Bontrager has been interested in Katie ever since they were in school. Now that Katie is home, Freeman finds excuses to spend time at the Miller house. Is there any future for him with this emotionally scarred woman, or should he turn to the fair beauty Eunice Byler?

When a mysterious package appears on Katie’s doorstep, Freeman’s loyalty is tested. Will he win her trust only to lose her standing with her parents?

What will it take for Katie to overcome her fears and dare to live — and love — again?

A Cousin’s Challenge

But two years later, a family with children who have been deaf since birth moves to Jolene’s hometown, and she is asked to return as their teacher.

Lonnie Hershberger has lost faith in God and in women ever since his girlfriend broke up with him when he lost his hearing during an explosion. When he starts falling in love with Jolene, he worries how he can ever protect her if he can’t hear. Besides, Jake Beechy seems to spend all his spare time with her.

Ella Miller knows Jake’s history with girls and fears he will break her cousin Jolene’s heart. What she doesn’t know is that Jake is fighting his growing attraction to Ella.

What drastic measures will God take to break the barriers between these young lovers — and teach them to hear the voice of love?

  1. One of my go-to verses in hard times is Habakkuk 3:17-19 (NIV)

    17 Though the fig tree does not bud
    and there are no grapes on the vines,
    though the olive crop fails
    and the fields produce no food,
    though there are no sheep in the pen
    and no cattle in the stalls,
    18 yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
    I will be joyful in God my Savior.
    19 The Sovereign Lord is my strength;
    he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
    he enables me to tread on the heights.

    Looking forward to reading this collection of books from a favorite author. Thanks for sharing about it. Here’s hoping…

  2. Psalm 91 is so comforting to me. I love Jeremiah 29:11 as it reminds me that no matter how bad things are, God has a plan for my life.

  3. Psalm 91 and Jeremiah 29:11 are also two of my favorites. One that is special to me because my father gave it to me with my first Bible 60 year ago is Proverbs 3:5-6. As human beings we tend to lean on our own understanding of things, but we need to remember to trust the Lord no matter what the situation looks like to us. God has a plan and we need to trust him to complete that perfectly.

  4. I like this one
    Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
    Anonymous
    To every thing there is a season,
    and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
    A time to be born, a time to die;
    a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
    A time to kill, and a time to heal;
    a time to break down, and a time to build up;
    A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
    a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
    A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
    a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
    A time to get, and a time to lose;
    a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
    A time to rend, and a time to sew;
    a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
    A time to love, and a time to hate;
    A time of war, and a time of peace.

  5. I have not read this series by Wanda yet and I love her writing! So thanks for the generous giveaway, Loraine πŸ™‚

    I love Proverbs 3:5-6~
    “Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
    And lean not on your own understanding;
    In all your ways acknowledge Him,
    And He shall direct your paths.”

    It reminds me who is in control and that I CAN trust Him even when things are tough. I don’t have to understand the whys, I just have to lean on the Lord.

  6. I can’t think of any off the top of my head that help me. except maybe.. Be still and know that I am God
    For when i am restless and feel I need to do everything

  7. Matthew 6:25-26 reminds me that God is so much bigger than anything I face!
    β€œTherefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

  8. I call this my life verse: Isaiah 26:3
    Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
