Where can I learn more about this author and their books?

Jen Turano, author website

I love good humor and funny situations in fictional reading. Jen Turano is one of those authors that consistently provides both and in a good way. As a reader, I love picking up one of her books to see what kind of fun ride I am in for. As a writer, I am completely impressed that she manages to write such funny characters without making them annoying.

Don’t be scared off by the number of entries, because you only have to do one thing to enter, but I would love for you to do lots. Particularly sharing. 1. I once slipped on a banana peel in the cafeteria in grade school! Very much like all the cartoons show – arms windmilling in an attempt to regain my balance, landing on my rear, etc. ๐Ÿ˜‰

      1. Feel free to laugh – I couldn’t stop laughing once I discovered what made me fall!

  2. Something funny…I think I’d have a hard time topping Jen Turano’s humorous situations! Once some Jehovah’s Witnesses came to my house while I was butchering chickens. I happened to be carrying the chicken feet when they came, and that swiftly changed the tide of conversation. (o:

    1. Oh, Kathryn, that just made my day! (That makes me sound a little off :/ My dad does say I have a twisted sense of humor…)

  3. well, it’s early in the day for me and I can’t think of anything funny right off the top of my head. I’m sure I’ve had a few in my day but none comes to mind. Thank you for sharing. And if I remember something, I’ll come back and reply later. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. That’s ok Anne, if something comes to mind just come on back and share it. Thanks for commenting though ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. what a fantastic giveaway!! And Kathryn Voss – I laughed OUT LOUD just now when I read your comment hahahaha! Something funny happens to me nearly every day – or maybe I just have an odd sense of humor ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. I did the same thing Carrie. You sound like you just have a lot of joy in your outlook. Thanks for sharing! ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Hmm. I honestly don’t know a funny story. I’m not that funny at all.. the most recent I can think of is for the past year, I’ve been telling people my wrong age, until my best friend stopped me and said, “umm, hate to break it to you…”

    1. I have sooo done that myself Annie. Were you giving your younger age or an older one? I once told someone I was a year older and my daughter looked at me like “seriously mom?” Thanks for sharing. ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. Funny Story: mistaken for my father on the telephone….my voice is that low?

  7. Just recently, I was visiting my sister-in-law and she asked if I liked cribbage. I misheard her and thought she asked if I liked garbage. I almost replied, “Why yes, I’ll take 2 bags.”

  8. Funny but hurt. My parents were visiting and it started pouring the rain. The French doors in both bedrooms were open, and I was cooking. I ran through the LR and started down the hall, caught my toes on the baseboard and flipped me through the air and I landed in the bedroom on my hip. My mom was cracking up till she saw the blood where I split my toes open. I still don’t know how I did it.

      1. Left scars on my toes. A week later I fell in the road taking pictures of wild flowers and had road rash on my hand and foot. Then a week after that we were in a motorcycle accident and messed my hand and leg up. That all happened last year and I am all healed up now. I lost some mobility in my hand and have many scars but thankful it wasn’t worse.

  9. The other day I went to drop something off at my neighbor’s house for her daughter and rang the wrong doorbell. I had to tell my other neighbor Happy Memorial Day and hope that it was a smooth recovery. I was so embarrassed.

    1. LOL I love your recovery Halita. I’m not sure I would have been that quick thinking. Thanks for sharing. ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. I can’t think of anything really funny that has happened to me. We had to laugh the other day when my 7 year old daughter was telling my mom how good the local Mexican restaurant was. My mom then asked her what was so good there and she replied, “The lemonade!”.

    1. Welcome to my website Nicole. Children do say the neatest things don’t they? Thanks for commenting. ๐Ÿ™‚

  11. I’m still learning sign language, and was at a deaf conference. My sister (who is a certified interpreter) & I were talking to the head minister of this conference. I thought I signed to him that his little 3 yr old granddaughter was cute…when we finished the conversation, my sister & I turned to walk away & she asked me if I realized that I had just told this minister that I thought HE was cute…(nope, had NOT realized that!)

  12. Can’t think of anything at this time ,but, would love to win Jen Turano book ,she’s a good writer.
    Thank you for the giveaway.

    1. Sometimes it’s hard to come up with those things right on the spot Zoe. That happens to me and then I think a several things after the fact. Thanks for commenting. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. I have totally done that too Dianne. You just got to laugh at those things sometimes, don’t you? Thanks for commenting. ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. When I was in high school my family went to six flags over Texas. I made the mistake of wearing a brand new white short set. Needless to say, by the end of the day the seat of my shorts had a permanent dark stain. Embarrassing to me but funny to the rest of the family.

    1. Oh no Jan. White shorts (or pants, skirts…) can be so problematic that way. Thanks for sharing! ๐Ÿ™‚

  14. Oh my! I’ve only read one of Jen Turano’s books and she is the queen of hilarity!

Hmm… the other day a friend was telling our family a joke. About five seconds later, my brother turned to me and asked, “Did you finally get it?” the VERY SECOND that I got it! Of course, it’s much funnier in person than in telling. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Amanda, your comment makes me think of my mom. We teased her quite a bit for taking longer than others to get our jokes. She was always so gracious about it which is what made it fun and good in nature at the same time. Thanks for sharing! ๐Ÿ™‚

  15. I once got into the wrong car in the school parking lot. Nothing like looking over and seeing your brother sitting in the RIGHT car, laughing at you! I definitely tried to be discreet when I got out, hoping that no one saw my mistake…I don’t think I was successful… ๐Ÿ™‚

  16. My 2yr old grand-girl always makes me laugh, and I love to hear it so much, that I do or say silly things to get her to laugh! Guess she thinks grandma is funny ๐Ÿ™‚
Sometimes I get strange looks out in public, but I don’t care, I’m having fun with her! That’s all that counts, right? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thank you for the chance to win Jen’s set of books!

    1. Hi Trixi! Some of my best memories with my mom are the ones where we are just having fun with each other. Thanks for commenting. ๐Ÿ™‚

  17. That is a tough question for most people to answer I would think. Usually something that hurts is what some people find funny if it isn’t hurting themselves. I honestly can’t think of anything I would find funny that happened to me. Maybe next time. Thanks for the giveaway and good luck everyone.

  18. I was walking through our place only without my top on yet and the preacher shows up unexpectedly.

  19. In college, there was a tiny staircase hidden in the middle of one hallway. It was my favorite–we called it the ninja staircase because so few people knew it was there, and I used it all the time. However, there was not a corresponding staircase in the hallway parallel to it, where I had one class. One day, coming out of the class, I went to the door to where the staircase should be and threw it open as usual–and smashed it against a desk with enough force to rattle the windows. In a room where a professor was still speaking. Witnessed by the entire class, plus all the students who followed me out of my own.

    1. Welcome to my website Rachael. What a neat story! I love that it was called a ninja staircase. I’m thinking up stories right now that could use one of those. Thanks for sharing! ๐Ÿ™‚

  20. I’m not good at remembering particular events but admire people who can laugh at themselves. I’m usually too embarrassed.

  21. I was at my church picnic they have every year after Easter. Some of us were playing volleyball, and when I went up to hit the ball I kind’ve made a ‘shovel’ move and hit myself in the face. Let’s just say nobody let me forget that one! lol ๐Ÿ˜€

  22. Sometimes I think my life is one long bloopers reel but darned if I can pick one out to share. Please enter me anyway. Thank you.

  23. Thank you for giving me this opportunity to win Jen Turner Turano books. She is one of my Favorite Authors!

  24. I went to visit a friend who recently moved. The houses look similar and the house number was blocked my a moving van. I went into the neighbor’s home who was also moving in the same day. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Oh that is funny Caryl. What are the odds that they were both moving in the same day? Thanks for sharing! ๐Ÿ™‚

  25. When my sister-in-law came out of a quick stop and went to get into the van.. She had to reach her arm through the partially rolled down window to unlock the door.. After she sat in the seat… wrong van, grandkids thought it was hilarious!!

    1. Oh my! There have been times when I have almost made that mistake Deanna. ๐Ÿ™‚ Thanks for sharing!

  26. On a recent shopping trip with my husband, the cashier thought I was his daughter!! OMG what a compliment!! We laughed for weeks on that one and….still laughing. My husband just turned 60 and is 6 yrs my senior!!

  27. Years ago, my uncle hooked up a power drill to a bean french-er (takes string beans and cuts them in french style), now hair was pulled back and I was “french-ing” away. a few beans missed the bowl below-being the good niece, I bent down to pick them up and well….. a second later, I was “wrapped” and my aunt was making a call. ๐Ÿ™

    1. Oh no Wenona ๐Ÿ˜ฎ – A bean frencher huh? I had to look that up because I had never heard of that. I’ll bet that power drill being hooked into it made it a little bit too interesting. ๐Ÿ™‚

  28. Wow, the whole series, a wonderful giveaway! Thank you for the chance, this is very exciting.

  29. I once excitedly walked up to a friend of mine and started sharing a story before I realized this particular lady was not my friend at all but a doppelgรคnger and a stranger at that! I love Jen’s books!! Thank you for this giveaway!

    1. LOL J’nell, my youngest is almost a pre-teen, but I remember those days fondly. Welcome to my website and thanks for sharing. ๐Ÿ™‚

  30. Hmm… Well, this one’s iffy, but it sticks out in my mind. Years ago, I worked at Payless. One day, an African American woman approached me and told me that the shoebox that she was carrying was very offensive. I was a little taken aback until she showed me where it said “negro” on the back of the box. I had to explain to her that she was holding a black shoe (the color black), and the back of the box had a description of the shoe in both French and Spanish. She, of course, was offended by the Spanish. There wasn’t anything I could do to help her! :-/

  31. Apparently I’m not a very funny person. Things like that don’t happen to me very much, so I can’t think of anything right not, but I do love to read about character that have crazy things happen in their lives. I loved the one book I’ve read from Jen Turano, though, and I’d be super excited to win these.

    1. Welcome to my website Michelle. Jen is one of my favorite authors. I just love the humorous situations she places her characters in. ๐Ÿ™‚

  32. Good humor & funny situations – sounds like an author I want to read! One of my funny situations: We were the first wedding for the young pastor. He asked me if I would take my husband to be my lawfully wedded wife!! His son was our ring bearer, and he kept the congregation entertained through the whole ceremony!!
