This week’s book giveaway will run for two weeks and is for the inspirational historical romances, Lady Maybe and The Dancing Master by Julie Klassen.
What are these books about?
Lady Maybe
One final cry…“God almighty, help us!” and suddenly her world shifted violently, until a blinding collision scattered her mind and shook her bones. Then, the pain. The freezing water. And as all sensation drifted away, a hand reached for hers, before all faded into darkness…
Now she has awakened as though from some strange, suffocating dream in a warm and welcoming room she has never seen before, and tended to by kind, unfamiliar faces. But not all has been swept away. She recalls fragments of the accident. She remembers a baby. And a ring on her finger reminds her of a lie.
But most of all, there is a secret. And in this house of strangers she can trust no one but herself to keep it.
The Dancing Master
Finding himself the man of the family, London dancing master Alec Valcourt moves his mother and sister to remote Devonshire, hoping to start over. But he is stunned to learn the village matriarch has prohibited all dancing, for reasons buried deep in her past.
Alec finds an unlikely ally in the matriarch’s daughter. Though he’s initially wary of Julia Midwinter’s reckless flirtation, he comes to realize her bold exterior disguises a vulnerable soul–and hidden sorrows of her own.
Julia is quickly attracted to the handsome dancing master–a man her mother would never approve of–but she cannot imagine why Mr. Valcourt would leave London, or why he evades questions about his past. With Alec’s help, can Julia uncover old secrets and restore life to her somber village…and to her mother’s tattered heart?

Julie Klassen is one of my favorite authors and I haven’t read those books! I’d love to read them!!!
My first and favorite is The Silent Governess!
My favorite thing about Regency Romances is the “marriage” issue! How arranged marriages could grow into love matches or how a couple can defy society by marrying over or under their station for love!

It’s hard for me to pinpoint exactly what I like about regency but I think it’s the clothing, the carriages and maybe even that people were a bit kinder. I like the warmth of Julie Klassen’s stories, so I think the closer friendship aspect is appealing as well.
Thanks for commenting Perrianne. 🙂
I love reading about the history, the etiquette, the customs, and clothing. I’d love to go back to those times for a day or two, but I’d miss my modern conveniences. I wouldn’t like going without indoor plumbing, central heating and A/C, phones, cars, electricity, and my heated mattress pad! LOL
I’m with you there Winnie. I’ve gotten quite fond of my modern conveniences. 😉 Thanks for commenting.

I like the politeness. I like how everything can be said in such a way as to get your point across, without having it come off as rude (whether you dislike/disagree with someone or not!)
Thanks for commenting Elly. 🙂
The nineteenth century is my favorite time period for historical fiction. I am more familiar with the customs of the Victorian era, so I am always fascinated with the differences in Regency society. I especially enjoy learning about the language and “lingo” of the Regency era.
