Giveaway at Loraine Nunley's website: The Isaac Project by Sarah Monzon #BookGiveaway

This week’s book giveaway is for The Isaac Project by Sarah Monzon.  You can check out my review for this book here (The Isaac Project Review).

Where can I learn more about this author and their books?

Sarah Monzon, author website

I believe it was Mark Twain who said “There is no such thing as a new idea.  It is impossible.  We simply take a lot of old ideas and put them into a sort of mental kaleidoscope.  We give them a turn and they make new and curious combinations.  We keep on turning and making new combinations indefinitely; but they are the same old pieces of colored glass that have been in use through all the ages.”

Do you believe that?  There are times when I really think that something is an original idea, but perhaps it is just a combination that I don’t recognize or I just haven’t heard of the idea that has been around awhile.  If it is true, perhaps that is what draws us to certain stories.  Who hasn’t seen different versions of Romeo and Juliet (fated romance) or A Christmas Carol (redemption)?

Whether or not it is true, there is something to be said about a retelling of the stories that God felt were important enough to be in the Bible.  I’m glad God is a storyteller, aren’t you?

  1. I like them because I get the same story in a modern situation. It brings it to life.

    1. That is true Jan. The modern retellings also keep them revitalized, I think. Thanks for commenting. 🙂

    1. LOL Annie 🙂 – I think it’s neat that even old stories can get new life from a different person’s perspective.

  2. For historical stories I like them to be close to the facts. I enjoy modern version of fairy tales. It’s fun to read a “new” perspective. 🙂

  3. It truly depends on the author! Some authors are brilliant at this and others make me wish that the original story hadn’t been tainted in my mind. Always willing to give it a try though.

  4. I don’t mind it when they write newer versions of the older stories. The stories are more relatable to me in the newer versions.

  5. Yes, I like the retelling and newer versions if it is well written. Thank you. God bless!

  6. It truly depends on how well the author tells the story. I love historical versions of fairy tells done right and also modern day. I just love good reading.

  7. I’ve heard so many wonderful things about this book, I can’t wait to read it for myself! I love a modern re-telling of a fairy tale, it’s fun to see what it would be like in our day and time!

  9. Yes, I do like a good retelling of an old story, with a few twists to make it new. Makes the old one come alive. Thank you for doing a giveaway. Heard this was a good book. 🙂
