  1. I like to read a blurb about the book so that will usually pique my interest (or not!). But beyond the first page, there needs to be something that will grab me, like something really quirky about a character or some scene that will keep me turning the pages to find out what is going to happen next.
But I have to admit, I pretty much never quit a book even if I don’t like it. Pretty much the only reason I will not finish a book is if there is too much foul language.

    1. Anne,
The heroine of Triple Threat, 21-year-old Katie Brandt (AKA Crazy Kate), is a bit quirky. She’s so gifted, athletically, mentally, and with physical beauty, that she has always won in every situation, even in life and death battles. But, having been raised in foster care much of her life, she’s willing to take great risks to win love and acceptance. And why not? She always wins. By page 5 or 6 in the book, you’ll understand why she’s called Crazy Kate.

  2. I almost always want to read beyond the first page so I don’t know! That first page would have to be really bad for me to not continue!

  3. Well, the first page is good but I always dig in much further since it takes time to set up the storyline, I would say.

  4. A great mystery and intrigue. A suspense story has a more difficult job than most books… It needs to keep you on the edge of your seat. That suspense building needs to occur early on. The first page is a bit soon though and so I continue reading based upon the books description.

  5. I don’t know exactly what would keep me from turning the page except foul language. I hardly ever quit reading a book even if it is a little hard to get into. I love reading and suspense is one of my favorite genres to read. I’m too inquisitive I guess not to keep turning pages to find out what is happening next.

  6. The characters usually draw me in. I read a blurb about the book before reading the first page so I know something about the book.

  7. If the author knows their craft, they’ll make me want to know what happens next drawing me in with the first page! And keep me interested throughout…I tend to ask a lot of questions as the story progresses. That’s a good suspense book to me!
Thank you for the chance to win this one, Loraine!

  8. Sometimes it’s the summary, reviews, a recommendation from a friend, the cover or the opening sentence. Once I;m hooked – there’s no stopping! 😀

  9. Something that grabs me on the first page and keeps me guessing through the rest of the book. (I really have to control the urge to turn to the back of the book to see what happens. 🙂
