This week’s giveaway is for book two and three of the Westward Winds series by Amanda Cabot. I read book one on my kindle so that is not included in this giveaway. When I last checked, you could still get book one for free in eBook form at Amazon. You can always check it out there.
Click on each book cover to see my review of this wonderful series.
Where can I learn more about this author and their books?
I am drawn to strong female characters in the books that I read. Perhaps that is because I can relate to them. I often wonder, when I am reading historical novels, what kind of woman I would have been during those time periods. What kinds of changes would my personality undergo if I lived in times when there were not the modern conveniences that we enjoy today? Would I be brave enough to pursue a career in a time when it was frowned upon for women to have one?
Have you ever wondered what you would be like in a different time period?

I would have lived on a ranch!
Open air, lots of animals… Sounds great Joan. Good luck and thanks for commenting!
I would have did okay in the 1880’s
We do what we have to do right Sheila? Thanks for commenting and good luck!
Definitely would have been a cowgirl and would have participated in A Roundup.
Ooo that sounds like so much fun Stella! Thanks for sharing. Good luck!
I love camping and backpacking so I might have done okay… although just the thought makes me appreciate our modern conveniences 🙂
I know what you mean Heidi. Camping for fun is one thing, but having to live that way? I’m not sure I would like that. Thanks for commenting and good luck!
A ranch sounds fun. A shop girl or a dressmaker might be fun too!
Oh I think a dressmaker sounds interesting Sydney. Thanks for stopping by and good luck!
I think I would have done well. I know it would have been a lot of physical work, but people expected that to be true. With God’s help, we can do whatever is necessary. I pretty much have always like challenges and I try to make the best of every situation.
I think you would have done well Kay. You sound like you have a great attitude towards life. Thanks for commenting and good luck!
I would have liked to assist in an apothecary shop. I’d love to have lived on a ranch with lots of horses!
I would not have thought of an apothecary shop Caryl. That sounds really interesting. Thanks for commenting and good luck!
I would have lived on a horse ranch and taken part in all aspects of caring for and raising horses. I love horses. Thanks for the giveaway and good luck everyone.
That does sound nice Debbie. Thanks for commenting and good luck!
I think I’d probably be a housewife or teacher. Growing up on a dairy farm, at least I already know how to feed a crowd from scratch, put up produce, and butcher chickens!!!!!
Wow Kathryn! That is so neat that you know all that stuff. You would do well for sure. Good luck!
I think living in town would be an adventure in itself.
It certainly sounds that way from what I’ve read Karen. Welcome and good luck!
In the 1880’s I would have been a wife and mother churning my butter from milk from my cows, baking fresh bread, gathering eggs, etc I would keep the home fires burning while my hubby worked. Times would be tough, but we would have love to sustain us.
Awww that is so sweet Lucy! Thanks for sharing and good luck!
Living on a cattle ranch with a lot of animals and cowboys around.
Can’t go wrong with cowboys around right Dianne? Thanks for commenting. Good luck!
Based on my ancestors, in my early years I would have traveled by covered wagon to Kansas from Ohio, Illinois, or Kentucky and then helped my husband farm the land, raise a passel of children, and build a church and community. I think I would have been much less spoiled than I am now!
I like that Katy! Welcome and thanks for commenting.
I think that I would have been a rancher’s wife.
So neat Cheryl! Thanks for commenting and good luck!
Since I love mail order bride stories, maybe I would have been adventurous enough to be one! Probably end up being a rancher’s wife since that was a lot of what men did back then. 🙂
Thank you for the chance to win copies of Amada’s books!
I believe you would have been a great mail order bride Trixi! Thanks for sharing and good luck!
I don’t think it would have been pretty, I love air conditioning 😉 Thank you for the giveaway, I loved the first book of the series!
Welcome Beth! I know what you mean about the air conditioning. I’m in Texas so I have a hard time imagining living in a time without it. Thanks for commenting and good luck.
Over the past week, my husband and I have been watching a PBS series on the West. I would head to the mountain of Colorado instead of the prairie. Somewhere like Colorado Springs where I could have a cabin, an iron stove for heat, and a huge stack of books to get me through the winter!
We are kinda-sort-of homesteaders now, so I think I would survive.
I’ve never read any Amanda Cabot’s books, but I’d love to be introduced to her writings. Thank you for the giveaway.
Amanda Geaney
Hi Amanda (waving) – That sounds so cozy. The huge stack of books would do it for me! Thanks for sharing. Good luck!
If I lived back then I would have done more physical labor, been busier just surviving, had fewer interactions with others, been less educated, etc.
I would definitely miss my modern conveniences, wouldn’t you Mary? Thanks for commenting and good luck!
