What is this book about?

FBI Special Agent Serena Jones arrives on Martha’s Vineyard with her family, ready for a little bit of R&R and a whole lot of reminiscing as they celebrate the engagement of an old family friend. But crime doesn’t take a vacation, and she’s soon entangled in an investigation of a suspicious death tied to an antiquities smuggling ring.

When her investigation propels her into danger, Serena must stay the course and solve this case before anyone else dies. But just how is she supposed to do that when the two men in her life arrive on the scene, bringing with them plenty of romantic complications–and even a secret or two?

My review:

A satisfying end to a fun series. There were so many suspects and I had so much fun trying to figure out who the guilty party was. And then there was the romance. Finally there was closure (or more accurately, a new beginning) for Serena in the romance department. But the author dragged me along a bumpy road while Serena discovered where her true feelings were.

I really enjoyed Serena’s personality which was determined, yet rather calm in most settings. This mystery was a little more personal to her and she struggled with that calm. But I loved how her ‘sidekicks’ helped her deal with the emotions and still keep up with solving the crime. The romance was a little heavier in this book than in the other two, but the mystery still managed to hold its own.

It was the end that especially gave me all the feels. I wasn’t sure how the author was going to deal with the romantic triangle she had involved Serena in for this series but I applaud the final result.

What I enjoyed most about this book:

The romance. It was swoony and so satisfying to end the series.

What I didn’t like about this book:

Nothing.

Rating 5 out of 5 stars

Would I recommend this book to others? You bet. The mystery itself was great to read. There were lots of suspects and it kept me guessing almost until the end. Then there was the romance. Serena finally gets her man! Romantic triangles are difficult to pull off and this one was done well. This is the third book in the series. While it can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the series in order because the romance is so much more satisfying that way.
