What is this book about?

Aidyn Kelley is talented, ambitious, and ready for a more serious assignment than the fluff pieces she’s been getting as a cub reporter for the Kansas City Star. In her eagerness, she pushes too hard, earning herself the menial task of writing an obituary for an unremarkable woman who’s just entered hospice care.

But there’s more to Clara Kip than meets the eye. The spirited septuagenarian may be dying, but she’s not quite ready to cash it in yet. Never one to shy away from an assignment herself, she can see that God brought the young reporter into her life for a reason. And if it’s a story Aidyn Kelley wants, that’s just what Mrs. Kip will give her–but she’s going to have to work for it.

My review:

This is the type of story that needs more than five stars to rate. It was absolutely sublime. I’m not sure I have the appropriate words to express how deeply this story affected me. Mrs. Kip was the type of woman that every Christian woman should aspire to, especially as we age. Her love for God translated into a ray of sunshine for those around her. But this wasn’t just a story of a woman spreading God’s love, it was a story of the reality of death – physical and emotional. The author handled a delicate topic in such wonderfully sensitive ways. It was truly gripping and a story that will stay with me for a long time to come.

Bravo to this author for a fabulous debut.

What I didn’t like about this book:

Nothing.

Rating 5 out of 5 stars

Would I recommend this book to others? Definitely. Wonderfully and emotionally gripping in subject matter with characters that leap off the pages – a must read. This is a standalone story.

Note: I received this book complimentary as a participant in the Revell blog tour. I was not required to give a positive review. All of the opinions I have expressed here are my own.
