What is this book about?

Though Holly’s stumbled through most of her adult life as a party girl, she longs to live a more stable life for her daughter. Then police show up to question her about the whereabouts of Creed Kershaw, Lily’s father. She has kept his identity a secret from friends and family—she never even told him about the pregnancy. Now he’s a person of interest in a drug-related murder case.

Determined to keep him out of their lives and turn him over to police, Holly uses her private investigating skills to search for him. But her bravado backfires when he turns the tables and takes her and the baby hostage. As desperate hours tick by, Holly realizes his connection to Leonard Miller—the man who has gunned down several members of her family. Creed claims he’s innocent and that Miller is after him too. His gentleness with Lily moves her, but she can’t trust a man who has held her at gunpoint . . . even if he reminds her so much of herself.

Dangers old and new threaten Holly and her baby, and lives are demanded as sacrifices for love. Through a complex web of mistakes and regret, redemption is the one hope Holly has left to hold on to.

My review:

Like the first two books in this series, this one was filled with page turning suspense. I especially liked that the series thread was wrapped up with the family finally getting the justice they wanted as well as a happy ending.

Holly was very insecure about herself and spent much of her time trying not to wallow in her past mistakes. I admired that she was trying to be a better person.

I didn’t care for Creed most of the book, but there were signs that he was following Holly’s example of improving. Even though he wasn’t as strong a person as I would have liked, I did like the way that the author highlighted the idea of God’s redemption in their flaws.

What I enjoyed most about this book

Justice and a happy ending for the family.

What I didn’t like about this book:

The initial interactions between Holly and Creed.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Would I recommend this book to others? Yes. Page turning suspense with realistically flawed characters and a nice inspirational thread. This is the third book in this series. I would recommend reading this series in order to follow the secondary storyline that goes through all three books.

Note: I received this book complimentary from a giveaway. I was not required to give a review. All of the opinions I have expressed here are honest and my own.
