Synopsis of the book:

No one needs to push Nikki Boyd to excel on the Tennessee Missing Persons Task Force. The case of her own missing sister, still unsolved after ten years, is the driving force in her work. When a Polaroid photo of a missing girl shows up at a crime scene, Nikki quickly recognizes similarities to the past. The closer she gets to the abductor, the more she feels this case has become personal, and she is not the hunter… but the hunted.

My review:

Loads of suspense in this story. A missing teen and the hint of a resolution to a past cold case pulled me along for a thrill ride with Nikki Boyd. Usually I like a good balance of romance and suspense in my romantic suspense books, but in this case, the romance is a very slow burning one, acting as a delicious side dish to the heart pounding suspense.

I loved Nikki. What a strong woman. Even though her passion was driven by guilt and past loss, it was nonetheless very tangible as she struggled with maintaining a professional distance so she could find a missing teen.

Without giving away spoilers, I will say that there was a part toward the end that got me all choked up. Great job to the author!

While this is a standalone book, I have to read the next one in the series because there are some questions that beg to be answered, particularly in the romance department.

What I enjoyed most about this book:

A strong and empathetic woman involved in page turning suspense.

What I didn’t like about this book:

That some things didn’t get resolved enough for me. Onto the next book in the series…

My rating:  5 out of 5 stars

Would I recommend this book to others? Definitely. The mystery and suspense were so gripping. This is the first book in the series. It can be read as a standalone. While I wouldn’t classify the story as a cliff hanger, it has peaked my interest enough to need to read the other books in the series.

Note: I received this book complimentary in a giveaway. I was not required to give a review. All of the opinions I have expressed her are my own.
