Book Review: You Belong With Me by Tari Faris

Synopsis of the book:
When a business tycoon determines to raze historic homes in the small town of Heritage, Michigan, and replace them with a strip mall, Hannah resolves to stop him. She sets about helping Heritage win a restoration grant that will put the town back on the map—and hopefully restore her disgraced family name. But she’ll need help to do it.
As a foster kid, Luke Johnson never truly felt he belonged. Now he has a chance to earn his place in his hometown. But he doesn’t anticipate how his relationship with Hannah will set into motion events that reveal the truth about who he is—and who he was.
My review:
A great start to a new series. I was pulled right into the plight of Heritage. I liked Hannah’s determination to save history and her town at the same time. While I disagreed with her methods at times, I could relate to her passion for fixing things.
There were a few movie worthy romantic moments between Luke and Hannah. And to see Luke’s unrealized dream come true was the best part of their story.
There was a secondary romance for Hannah’s brother that I also found entertaining. I wonder if he and Hannah’s best friend will show up in the next book?
What I enjoyed most about this book:
The plot that begged me to keep reading to find out how Hannah would save the town and win the desire of her heart.
What I didn’t like about this book:
Sometimes Thomas’s story line pulled me out of Hannah’s.
Would I recommend this book to others? Yes. The writing was well done and the story asks questions that make you feel you have to keep reading so you can find out the answers. This is the first book in this series.
