Yes, it’s Christmas in June! That may sound strange, but I think Christmas and cowboys are alright anytime of the year.
I am a Texas transplant. Our family moved here a few years ago for my husband’s work. One of the things that I find neat about Texas is the pride that Texans take in their heritage. Cowboys play a large role. We have rodeos and working cattle ranches. Cowboy hats and boots are not just costumes around here, they are true attire. I got my first pair of true cowboy boots on a visit to Dallas shortly before we moved here and now I wear my second pair like most people would wear athletic shoes. They are that comfortable!
Getting back to the cowboys… What type of man do you think of when you think of a cowboy? Here are some things I think of when I think of a cowboy.
Counterfeit Cowboy by Lacy Williams
Back of the book: From the moment Jesse Baker collides with Erin O’Grady on a Boston train platform, he faces a dilemma. For once, Jesse doesn’t want to lie about who and what he is. Yet if she learns he’s a con artist, not a cowboy – and the urchin with him is certainly not his brother – she’ll never give him a chance.
Erin suspects there’s more to the enigmatic cowboy than meets the eye. But the sheltered socialite is certain his deep compassion is real. On the long Christmastime train ride to Wyoming, hearts and courage are tested and true motives revealed. And the journey that began in a charade may end with redemption – and a very real love.
The Gift of Family by Linda Ford and Karen Kirst
Back of the book:
Merry Christmas, Cowboy by Linda Ford
A wild snowstorm strands Colt Johnson in Eden Valley, where the storekeeper’s daughter exudes welcome warmth. She’s even offered to give the two orphans in his charge a Christmas to remember. An outcast, Colt doesn’t dare hope for more- even though Becca’s love would be a Christmas wish come true.
Smoky Mountain Christmas by Karen Kirst
Cole Prescott’s Gatlinburg visit will be just long enough to free his wife from their mistake of a marriage. Then he meets the daughter he hadn’t known he had. Little Abby needs a father, especially at Christmastime. And all Cole wants is a chance to make a life with Rachel and Abby at last…
