Since I have been blogging, I’ve been reading about the idea of choosing a word for the year. A word that you have considered carefully which will remind you of what your goals are for the upcoming year. While I have enjoyed learning about other people’s words, I have never chosen a word for myself. This year, 2016, I have decided to join the party and chose a word AND a bible verse as well. I figured I would jump in with both feet.

It was harder than I thought it would be… and more fun as well. There are soooo many good words! How do I pick just one? So I thought about what I expect from the upcoming year.

For my writing: I want to keep learning and honing my writing. I want to connect with others through my writing. I have already published some non-fiction books but this year I want to focus on my fiction writing. I want to dig more into my blogging and my websites.

For my family: I want to enjoy my family as much as I can. I want to make good memories with them. I want to deepen my relationships with them.

For me: I want to be a better person – a better child of God, a better wife, a better mother, a better writer, a better woman.

Hmmm. Maybe my word should have been ‘better’?

Basically, I want to move forward this year in a positive way. So this is the word I’ve chosen for 2016:

“ADVANCE”

advance (v): move forward, typically in a purposeful way

This is my Bible verse for 2016:

Proverbs 4:25 (NLT)
Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you.

I am excited for what 2016 will bring! What about you? Do you have a word and/or a bible verse for this year? What are you expecting from 2016?
