Standoff at Christmas by Margaret Daley
What is this book about?
Anchorage K-9 officer Jake Nichols returns home for Christmas to recover from the accident that almost killed him—and find some peace. But those plans are shattered when childhood friend Rachel Hart gets caught up in a drug-smuggling ring after her aunt is murdered. Soon their lives are in peril as Jake battles the Alaskan winter, a ruthless criminal…and his developing feelings for Rachel.
My review:
Quite a bit of suspense with several potentials for the villain. I enjoyed trying to figure out who it was, suspecting everyone. The romance was sweet but a little rushed with some of the baggage Jake and Rachel carried around.

Christmas Escape by Valerie Hansen
What is this book about?
Veterinary assistant Rachel Fielding and her niece spend the holidays hiding from a killer with her boss, Kyle Roarke, and a capable K-9.
My review:
Submerging suspense from start to end. Even though the romance was a little fast, the affection that developed was nicely done in this short story. I really enjoyed the main characters and their interactions.

Yuletide Target by Laura Scott
What is this book about?
Someone’s gunning for Senior Airman Jacey Burke and her trusty K-9. But Staff Sergeant Sean Morris will do anything to keep her safe for Christmas.
My review:
Nice balance of romance and suspense. Jacey was under attack from the moment we meet her and I sympathized with her problem of getting people to believe her. Knowing her from high school, Sean has the benefit of knowing her character and not dismissing her concerns. I liked the easy friendship between them and I loved their determination to do what was right instead of what was easy.

What I enjoyed most about this collection:
The highlight of K-9 abilities
What I didn’t like about this collection:
Romance not as balanced or believable for the short time frames
Would I recommend this book to others? Yes, but more for the suspense than the romance. Each story highlights the military and K-9 dogs which is interesting.
Note: I received this book complimentary in a giveaway. I was not required to give a review. All of the opinions I have expressed here are honest and my own.
