What is this book about?

US Secret Service Special Agent Luke Powell is lucky to be alive. Three of his fellow agents have died in unusual circumstances in the past ten weeks. Luke is devastated by the loss of his friends and colleagues, and his inability to locate the killer feels like a personal failure. He’s an expert at shielding others, but now the protectors are in need of protection.

FBI Special Agent Faith Malone is driven to succeed and confident in her ability to solve every case she’s assigned. She’s been put in charge of the investigation into the unprecedented attacks, and with Luke’s life in danger, the stakes have never been higher. But it’s hard to know how to fight back when you don’t know who the enemy is.

As more agents are targeted, Luke and Faith will have to work together to bring a killer to justice and prevent any more names from joining their fallen brothers and sisters on the Secret Service Wall of Honor.

My review:

From the very first page, the suspense is gripping. The mystery kept me guessing right before the villain reveal. The romance was sweet and well done in the midst of such suspense. I really enjoyed Luke’s character, although I did struggle with his deep feelings about the FBI but he was caring and loyal which made up for any flaws. Faith was a different story for me, I had some trouble warming up to her but I did like her determination to do her job well. The best part of this story was all the great personalities in the team dynamic as well as some beloved characters from the Dive Team Investigations series showing up throughout.

What I enjoyed most about this book:

The secondary characters and team dynamics

What I didn’t like about this book:

Had trouble warming up to Faith

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Would I recommend this book to others? Yes. Cast of great characters and sweet romance in the midst of suspense. This is the first book in the series. It is a standalone but some characters from a previous series show up so I recommend reading that series as well.
