This week’s book giveaway is for the contemporary fantasy romance book The Magic of Lemon Drop Pie by Rachel Linden.
What is this book about?
Lolly Blanchard’s life only seems to give her lemons. Ten years ago, after her mother’s tragic death, she broke up with her first love and abandoned her dream of opening a restaurant in order to keep her family’s struggling Seattle diner afloat and care for her younger sister and grieving father. Now, a decade later, she dutifully whips up the diner’s famous lemon meringue pies each morning while still pining for all she’s lost.
As Lolly’s thirty-third birthday approaches, her quirky great-aunt gives her a mysterious gift—three lemon drops, each of which allows her to live a single day in a life that might have been hers. What if her mom hadn’t passed away? What if she had opened her own restaurant in England? What if she hadn’t broken up with the only man she’s ever loved? Surprising and empowering, each experience helps Lolly let go of her regrets and realize the key to transforming her life lies not in redoing her past but in having the courage to embrace her present.

For me, it would be September 7, 1988. That’s the day before our daughter died in a car accident. Maybe I could have done something different to change the outcome. I know that’s impossible because all is done in God’s plan, but one can’t help but wonder if they could have said or done something different to change the course of events.
Another day would be my wedding day. It was a long struggle to get there, but it’s a day that changed my world making me happier than I even imagined possible.

Oh Kay, I am so sorry about your daughter. So many of us struggle with God’s plans at those times. Thank you for sharing that with us.

The day I would pick to live in would be on one of the days of our family trip to Chincoteague Island. I’d get to run to the beach, play in the ocean, eat fresh seafood, and see the wild ponies with my beautiful daughters and loving husband again.

It would be the day I got married and we moved out of state. I still miss living in Michigan.

The day would be the last time I spoke to my mother on the phone-that was 3 weeks before she died unexpectedly.

It would be my grandmother’s 80th birthday party at my church. All my family was there including those that have since passed away.

That’s a hard question, but an interesting one. Maybe a day when all my kids were young and behaving perfectly. LOL I’d love to go back to Switzerland again and explore the area where my grandfather lived near Interlaken and the Alps.

Those sound like great days, Winnie. Gosh, there are so many days to choose from, aren’t there? Thanks for sharing with us.
