What are these books about?
A Match in the Making (affiliate link)
When Gwendolyn Brinley accepted a paid companion position for the Newport Season, she never imagined she’d be expected to take over responsibilities as an assistant matchmaker. Tasked with finding a wife for the Season’s catch, Walter Townsend, her assignment becomes increasingly difficult when she realizes his perfect match might be . . . her.
To Spark a Match (affiliate link)
Miss Adelaide Duveen–society misfit and confirmed spinster–is in danger of being banished from society. Former intelligence agent Gideon Abbott feels responsible for her plight and helps her relaunch into society. But when danger surrounds them and she finds herself a target of the criminals in Gideon’s case, can the spark of love between them survive?
Meeting Her Match (affiliate link)
Miss Camilla Pierpont, a renowned matchmaker and influential member of the New York Four Hundred, has vowed never to marry after suffering a devastating heartbreak during her debut years ago. However, when she is nearly abducted along the Hudson River, she finds herself rescued by an annoyingly outspoken, albeit fascinating, gentleman who challenges her in a manner she wasn’t expecting.
After learning that Camilla Pierpont has enjoyed success with taking wayward young ladies in hand, Mr. Owen Chesterfield travels to the Hudson River Valley determined to convince Camilla to sponsor his sister, who is in desperate need of social rehabilitation.
Knowing her life is in danger, Camilla agrees to Owen’s proposition and travels with him to West Virginia, finding herself charmed by the less-than-formal attitude of his small hometown, as well as by Owen himself. But danger waits in the shadows, disrupting what she knows would be the most spectacular match she’s ever made–her own.

I would find gentlemen who are willing to look beyond the surface and see that a shy, quiet girl can still be fun.
Jen Turano writes such great scenes; I can see that shy girl getting thrown into the spotlight in some outrageous ways.
Loraine
Yes, Jen is great with comedic scenes. One of her books had a scene with a wallflower at a ball having trouble with her bustle. It was hilarious. Thanks for commenting Connie. 🙂
Janet Estridge
I would take her with me to church.
My husband and I met at church.
We’ve been married 49 years.
Loraine
That is such a great story Janet and I think church is one of the best places to find a good eligible bachelor. Thanks for commenting. 🙂
Deana Dicj
I would have an old fashioned raffle of picnic baskets . Our sweet shy young lady would be chosen by someone I have asked ahead of time to bid on her basket. He is a hard working man who puts God first. Everyone loves him and knows he is faithful, caring, and honest.
Loraine
Now that is a fun way to matchmake, Deana. I always love it when stories have the picnic basket raffles. Thanks for commenting. 🙂

I was shy myself. My husband and I met on a blind date, so I would find a single guy with similar interests and fix them up.
We’ve been married 43 years and counting!
Loraine
How wonderful Gail! You would be a good matchmaker. Thanks for commenting. 🙂
Loraine
And let her dress up in a beautiful gown to boost her courage. I like it Natalya. Thanks for commenting. 🙂

Loraine
Oh I love the added element of masquerade. That might help her with her shyness. Thanks for commenting, Caryl. 🙂
Lelia (Lucy) Reynolds
Since I’m shy also I would have a quiet garden party and invite families that have eligible young men and have lawn games that she could participate him and maybe make a connection with her shy smile.
Loraine
Oh lovely and low-key. I love it! Thanks for commenting Lucy. 🙂
Thomas Gibson
Suggest volunteering for a cause she cares about. Working together on a project offers plenty of casual interaction opportunities without the pressure of a “date” setting.
Loraine
Welcome to my website Thomas. Thanks for commenting. 🙂
Joan Arning
I would get them both involved in working for some project either at church or a charity.
Loraine
I like that plan Joan. Thanks for commenting. 🙂
Kay Garrett
First I would try to build her confidence by getting her to smile. A smile will attract others looking for something bright in a dull world. Invite her to share some of your events (church, hobby clubs, book clubs, attending local events) and in doing so open her up to meeting people and getting comfortabel around them. It would also give you the opportunity to introducing her to eligible men who may be just as shy as she is.
Loraine
That is a great plan Kay. I especially love the advice of smiling. People are more likely to respond to a smile. Thanks for commenting. 🙂
Janice Moore
I would place her in situations where her heart shines for good causes, where her good heart can be evident!
Loraine
That is a great idea Janice. Thanks for commenting. 🙂
Michelle Miller
I would host a card and board game night with friends and neighbors. This would allow her to meet people in a relaxed, casual setting.
Loraine
Nice idea Michelle. Thanks for commenting. 🙂
