This week’s book giveaway will run for four weeks and is for the inspirational time travel thriller series: The True Lies of Rembrandt Stone series by David James Warren.
What are these books about?
Ex-Minneapolis Police Detective Rembrandt Stone walked away from a career he loved—just the price of being sure he can come home to the wife and daughter he cherishes. But he can’t shake the deep regret over a case left behind.
When his mentor, the former Chief of Homicide dies and leaves Rembrandt with a box of cold cases and a mysterious watch, he finds himself thrust into a world he recognizes—a world from twenty years ago—the same world he’s woken from in a cold sweat a hundred times. But is it a dream, or some kind of twisted reality?
If he solves the case that plagues him, and justice is finally served, will it destroy the life he loves?
“The One Rule Is, Don’t Mess With The Past”
But he did, and now ex-detective Rembrandt Stone is reaping the devastation of ignoring those words when he traveled back in time to solve the one case that had haunted his dreams.
Yes, he solved the crime. Yes, he saved lives. But Rembrandt returns to find the unthinkable has happened and his life has shattered.
There’s only one answer: break the rule again. Go back in time once more, fix what went wrong, save what went right, and yeah, in his spare time solve another brutal crime.
But it’s not so easy to change time, especially when time turns you into a target. And of course there’s the strong possibility if he goes again, he’ll never get back.
Third Time’s The Charm … Or Not
Rembrandt Stone has only made things worse. This time, upon his return, he discovers his closest friendship is up in flames. Andrew Burke’s new scars reflect the havoc Rembrandt has left on his own timeline and he must go back—one last trip into the past. This time he’ll save Burke, fix his life and track down a serial killer who possesses an uncanny ability to evade him through time.
When Rembrandt lands in the past and two children disappear into an epic Minneapolis blizzard, he’s in a race with time to save the children, his partner, and create a future he can live with.
Thirty-eight women. Dead. All the in the past. All because Detective Rembrandt Stone played with fate, and somewhere in time unleashed a serial killer. He can’t undo their deaths, not anymore, but the serial killer is still at large, twenty-four years later, and now it’s personal. Especially when the evidence points to the last person on anyone’s radar: Rembrandt himself. Now he’ll have to use the clues from his pasts to track down the killer in the present. But the killer is onto him and puts the one person Rembrandt loves in his cross hairs. Now, Rembrandt must outwit time to save the people he loves. Because time is playing for keeps.
Tragedy has yet again taken from Detective Rembrandt Stone everything he loves. Now, he has one last chance to get things right and stop a killer he’s been hunting across four timelines. Instead, he gets tangled in a petty crime that just might cost him his once chance at justice.
With two murders to stop, and thirty-eight lives still in the balance, Rembrandt must play his hand against time just right if he wants to win his future… Play it wrong and his life will stay shattered beyond repair.
What sacrifices will he have to make to come home to his wife and daughter?
Rembrandt Stone has nothing left to lose…or does he?
Detective Rembrandt Stone doesn’t recognize himself in the mirror. Doesn’t recognize the world he’s returned to. Doesn’t even know his own name. But he knows one thing…living in this world is impossible.
Good thing he has an ally—an unexpected friend from the past. And together, they just might be able to unravel the entire mess. But first…Rembrandt will have to return to the past one final time and intercept himself before he makes a lethal mistake.
Time has outwitted him. It’s time for him to outwit time. Can he reconstruct a past he just destroyed or is there nothing left of his world to save?
The explosive ending to the True Lies of Rembrandt Stone!

So many options come to mind, both in my own life and in world history. But then we change so much by changing just one thing, don’t we? I would like to have skipped needing knee surgery, though.
Loraine
That is exactly what happens in this book series. Rembrandt changes something in the past and it sends ripples through his life. Thanks for commenting, Denise. 🙂

I would definitely change some of the poor decisions that I made as a teenager.

Gail Hollingsworth
I would go back to my early teenage years and be more active with my health and diet. I would also take better care of my skin, especially my face. Have to make twice a year visits to my dermatologist for cancerous and precancerous lesions.
Loraine
Boy can I relate to that Gail. Thanks for sharing. 🙂

Oh, I’m so sorry Paula. I am adding healing for your family to my prayer list. Thank you so much for sharing. 🙂

Probably nothing…of course, there’re a lot of choices I would consider changing; however, God worked in every situation and changed me in the process. He is Good!

Lelia (Lucy) Reynolds
I would like to change the years of abuse in my marriage but then I would not have my children and grandchildren, therefore I’ll say nothing.
Loraine
Thank you for sharing with us, Lucy. 🙂
Paty Hinojosa
That’s a hard question! I don’t regret the biggest choices in my life, but I would try to be a better person, I would like to give more of my time to needy people (there are so many kind of needs that I can help with, even if I don’t have much money).
Loraine
Thanks for sharing with us, Paty. 🙂
Colleen Hudson
There would be small things I would change…and big things I would want to change.
Loraine
Thanks for commenting Colleen. 🙂

A lot of my trauma happened early in my life & I don’t think I could have changed that, even if I wanted to.
Loraine
Thanks for commenting, Nancy. 🙂

Spending more time with family.

I don’t know if I’d change anything.
Loraine

Jasmine A.
I’m not sure. Maybe some of my own reactions I suppose but nothing major. We’ve all seen the Star Trek episodes where one little change to the historical timeline destroys the present timeline and that is something that I would want to avoid doing.
Loraine
I get that Jasmine. 😉 Thanks for commenting.
