What is this book about?

When Katherine “Kit” FitzGilbert turned her back on London society more than a decade ago, she determined never to set foot in a ballroom again. But when business takes her to London and she’s forced to run for her life, she stumbles upon not only a glamorous ballroom but also Graham, Lord Wharton. What should have been a chance encounter becomes much more as Graham embarks on a search for his friend’s missing sister and is convinced Kit knows more about the girl than she’s telling.

After meeting Graham, Kit finds herself wishing things could have been different for the first time in her life, but what she wants can’t matter. Long ago, she dedicated herself to helping women escape the same scorn that drove her from London and raising the innocent children caught in the crossfire. And as much as she desperately wishes to tell Graham everything, revealing the truth isn’t worth putting him and everyone she loves in danger.

My review:

After meeting Kit in the prequel novella and not liking her, I wasn’t sure how I would feel reading this story. Happily, I changed my mind about her and really enjoyed it. Kit was plucky, stubborn, and trying to do accomplish good using the wrong methods. She struggled with guilt and I rooted for her to find forgiveness and healing.

Graham was such a great character from the moment he steps onto the pages. He struggles with finding purpose in life and was easily relatable. I loved his strength of character and loyalty to his friends and family. The sweet romance between him and Kit had me turning the pages well past my bedtime to see them get their happy ending.

What I enjoyed most about this book:

Page turning sweet romance

What I didn’t like about this book:

Nothing

Rating 5 out of 5 stars

Would I recommend this book to others? Definitely. Well developed characters, believable internal struggles, and wonderfully sweet romance. This is the first book in the series. There is a prequel novella that sets up Kit’s story, but is not a necessary read for this book.
