What is this book about?
Lyla Fox knows she has a reputation at the SNAP Agency for impulsivity, but when she receives a threatening letter from a man she helped put in prison, she can’t stop herself from going all in to find out why he’s coming after her. Unfortunately, she’s going to need the help of the one person who questions her reckless choices more than anyone else.
Explosives and weapons specialist Nicolas Garcia agrees to help Lyla in order to keep her safe, but her recklessness continues to be a major concern, especially when her investigation into a conspiracy puts a target on her back. Dealing with bombs is dangerous. Working with Lyla is proving to be just as treacherous–to both the mission and his heart.
My review:
Oh, the suspense! Oh, the romance! I have loved the romantic tension between Lyla and Garcia since book one. Would this story live up to my expectations? No, it didn’t. It surpassed my expectations.
Lyla was a person that walked to a different beat but never knew what drove her to be that way. Yes, she was impulsive and not always in the best of ways, but I really loved watching her come to terms with her true nature and embrace it.
Talk about opposites attracting, Nicolas was the calm to Lyla’s stormy nature. I loved his strength of character and willingness to put aside his wants to give Lyla what he felt she needed. And surprisingly, Lyla was actually the calm to his internal storms. Great match.
Of course the SNAP team returns for the final book in this series and as always, my favorite character was Kekoa. I will definitely miss these characters.
Initium (SNAP novella) review:
This is a novella giving the background of how the SNAP Agency came into being. While I did find the time line shift back and forth a little jarring sometimes, I enjoyed seeing how my favorite SNAP characters came together in the first place. I would definitely recommend reading this novella prior to the third book in the series, Blind Trust.
What I enjoyed most about this book:
The love and respect between Lyla and Nicolas, even as friends.
What I didn’t like about this book:
The series ending. 🙁
Would I recommend this book to others? Yes I would. It was the perfect balance of romance and suspense with great characters and fun team dynamics. It is the third book of the series. It can be read as a standalone but I would recommend reading the novella beforehand.
Note: I received this book complimentary as a member of the author’s launch team. I was not required to give a positive review. All of the opinions I have expressed here are honest and my own.
