Finding Margo by Jen Turano | Book Review by Loraine Nunley #bookreview

What is this book about?

International pop star Margo Hartman could use a night off. A grueling tour and overbearing entourage have sent her over the edge. It’s time for this diva to disappear. And who would think to look for the superstar in a small Dutch town in Ohio?

Sheriff’s deputy Brock Moore is undercover as well. He knows Margo isn’t who she appears to be, but her uncanny resemblance to a local Amish woman is raising all sorts of questions… the kind that make her a target for a killer.

Both are determined to find answers, but their mutual attraction stands in the way of either of them doing it alone.

Is finding Margo the solution to Brock’s problems or just the beginning…?

My review:

I have enjoyed all of this author’s historical romances so I was excited when I discovered her trademark humor in this contemporary romantic suspense. This was a fun story because it was unlike any traditional romantic suspense. The humor lightened the suspense part and gave me a fun ride while enjoying the developing feelings between Margo and Brock.

How can a normal person relate to an internationally famous pop star? Surprisingly I found that I did relate to her struggles to find her way in the midst of dysfunctional family issues. She had the added problems of a demanding fan base as well. The best part about Margo was her down to earth humor and easy going personality.

I loved Brock the moment he came on the pages. He had a background which could have made him arrogant and self-centered but I was pleased that he wasn’t that way at all. He not only had a great personality, but he ‘got’ Margo which was very important. Their romance was a natural evolution.

Another fun surprise (and author trademark) was an animal prominent in the storyline. I was amazed at the laugh out loud moments within the suspenseful storyline and wicked people.

The one disappointment I have is that this book is obviously the beginning of a series. It even includes a sneak peek at the second story. There is no indication as to when, or if, the other two books will be published.

What I enjoyed most about this book

The romance between Brock and Margo which was fun and sweet.

What I didn’t like about this book:

No indication of future books in the series. 🙁

Rating 5 out of 5 stars

Would I recommend this book to others? Yes. The romance was sweet. The quirky humor and animals that this author is known for are present. Surprising to me, it was a fun balance between humor and suspense. Even though this is the first book in a series that may not release further stories, it is a standalone story. But if the others get published, I will definitely be reading those.

I received this book complimentary in a giveaway. I was not required to give a review. All of the opinions I have expressed here are honest and my own.
