What is this book about?
Casey Cox is still on the run after being indicted for murder. The hunt that began with her bloody footprints escalates, and she’s running out of places to hide. Her face is all over the news, and her disguises are no longer enough. It’s only a matter of time before someone recognizes her.
Dylan Roberts, the investigator who once hunted her, is now her only hope. Terrifying attempts on Dylan’s life could force Casey out of hiding. The clock is ticking on both their lives, but exposing the real killers is more complicated than they knew. Amassing the evidence to convict their enemies draws Dylan and Casey together, but their relationship has consequences. Will one life have to be sacrificed to protect the other?
My review:
This is book three in a three book series and it is the final installment of the story so you are warned not to read this one until you have the entire set available.
Justice was served but what a twisted road to get there. I practically held my breath most of the book as Casey and Dylan gathered evidence against the bad guys. And just when I thought I could breathe easy, more evil happens and more trouble is heaped upon them.
Getting to know Casey and Dylan throughout this series was awesome. They were two wounded souls, but their underlying strength of character was so admirable.
The evil made me shudder but I really liked the hope of life in Christ that was deeply woven through the story. While we, as humans, struggle with the question of how God allows evil to persist, this series highlighted the importance of trusting God. Especially when we don’t understand the ‘whys’.
This book brought a suspenseful series to a very satisfying conclusion.
What I enjoyed most about this book:
The relationship between Casey and Dylan and that justice was served.
What I didn’t like about this book:
Nothing. I loved it.
Would I recommend this book to others? You bet. Hold your breath suspense, imperfect but admirable characters and a profound inspirational thread make this a great read. This is the third book in the series. It is the conclusion of Casey’s story so I recommend having the whole series available to you and reading it in order.
