Synopsis of the book:

When the Carrington County Sheriff’s Office dive team is called in to recover a body from a submerged car, they aren’t prepared to find an encrypted laptop — or an unsettling connection between investigator Adam Campbell and the dead accountant.

Adam turns to his friend Dr. Sabrina Fleming to recover the files from the laptop. But the deeper they dig, the deadlier the investigation becomes. When evidence implicates members of Adam’s own family, he and Sabrina will have to risk everything to solve the case.

The truth could set hundreds free — but someone is willing to do whatever it takes to silence anyone who threatens to reveal their secrets.

My review:

This story has it all — page turning suspense, heart racing romance, and a subtle but deep inspirational thread. I loved the twists and turns of the investigation while seeing Adam and Sabrina fall in love.  I highly recommend this romantic suspense.

I met Sabrina in the first book of this series, Beneath the Surface, where her quirkiness and sincerity grabbed my attention. I really enjoyed getting to know her in this story. She was so much more with every turn of the page. I also loved that she and Adam were already friends and that they didn’t spend too much time fighting their growing feelings for each other.

Adam was a great hero — strong, protective, sensitive, and empathetic, plus he ‘got’ Sabrina. As much as I liked Adam and Sabrina, my favorite thing about this story would have to be the group of characters. I want to be friends with all of them.

What I enjoyed most about this book

The whole gang of characters. All of them are strong in their own rights but not overpowering each other.

What I didn’t like about this book:

That I have to wait for the next book which is Gabe’s story… 😮

My rating:  5 out of 5 stars

Would I recommend this book to others? Absolutely.  It is a perfect balance of romance and suspense. This author is on the top of my list for romantic suspense. If you like authors like Lynette Eason and Dani Pettrey, you will love this one. This is the second book in the series. It is a standalone story, but book one adds to the experience.

Note: I received this book complimentary from the author. I was not required to give a positive review. All of the opinions I have expressed here are my own.
