Synopsis of the book:
The police say her father’s death was suicide. Kelly Warren says it was murder — and she has new evidence to prove it. Detective Cole Taylor doesn’t put much credence in her claim, and nothing in his case review suggests foul play. But when he digs deeper and discovers startling information linking her to a long-buried secret, the danger escalates. Is history repeating itself? And who wants Kelly silenced?
My review:
Loved it! This was my favorite book in this series by far. Sweet romance mixed into a page turning suspense with a few surprises. From the very start, I was intrigued by Kelly’s determination to prove her father’s death was not suicide.
I loved Kelly’s persistence to see justice served, but she wasn’t a pushy personality. In fact, there was a mellowness to her that I really liked.
This was the chance to read Cole’s story. He was prevalent in the other books from this series so getting to know him further was great. He was professional and detail oriented. It made for good reading as I followed his line of thinking to determine the villain. I also liked how he respected the feelings developing between him and Kelly.
This author is tough on her heroines in this series. I wanted to close my eyes as Kelly was sure to meet her fate. Noooo. 😮 But justice and love prevailed. The bad guys got what was coming to them.
I got a good suspenseful roller coaster ride.
What I enjoyed most about this book:
The personalities of Kelly and Cole. I loved their chemistry.
What I didn’t like about this book:
That Kelly is put through so much. It did make for a page turning suspense though.
My rating: 5 out of 5 stars
Would I recommend this book to others? Yes. This had good page turning suspense, winning chemistry between the hero and heroine, and tied the bad guys up in a bow. Nice end to the series and my favorite one. This is the third book in the series. It can be read as a standalone.
