What is this book about?

Irish photojournalist Grace Brennan travels the world’s war zones documenting the helpless and forgotten. After the death of her friend and colleague, Grace is shaken.

She returns to London hoping to rekindle the spark with the only man she ever loved―Scottish businessman Ian MacDonald. But he gave up his championship rowing career and dreams of Olympic gold years ago for Grace . . . only for her to choose photography over him. Will life’s tides bring them back together . . . or tear them apart for good this time?

My review:

I struggled with this story. I really liked Ian and Grace individually and their romance together had quite a bit of sizzle. I had a really hard time with their backstory and the circumstances behind their breakup in the past. Ian was too quick to forgive Grace for how she handled things in the past and they jumped right back into a romance that felt like it was never going to recover from that shaky ground. I also had trouble with the end wrapping things up a little too quickly for me. That being said, getting past the backstory, their romance was sweet with a little simmer.

What I enjoyed most about this book:

Revisiting Ian’s brother and sister

What I didn’t like about this book:

Ian’s quickness to take Grace back in the beginning

Would I recommend this book to others? Possibly. The romance had some sizzle and the characters were pretty likable on their own. This is the second book in the series and it can be read as a standalone.
