What is this book about?

“The One Rule Is, Don’t Mess With The Past”

But he did, and now ex-detective Rembrandt Stone is reaping the devastation of ignoring those words when he traveled back in time to solve the one case that had haunted his dreams.

Yes, he solved the crime. Yes, he saved lives. But Rembrandt returns to find the unthinkable has happened and his life has shattered.

There’s only one answer: break the rule again. Go back in time once more, fix what went wrong, save what went right, and yeah, in his spare time solve another brutal crime.

But it’s not so easy to change time, especially when time turns you into a target. And of course there’s the strong possibility if he goes again, he’ll never get back.

My review:

I jumped right into this book after reading book one, which I highly recommend. The suspense was page turning and I rooted for Rembrandt every step of the way. In this installment, Rem learned how his time travel worked but I felt his frustration with wishing that information had been imparted to him sooner.

This story delved further into the cold case he was solving and I loved trying to figure out who committed the crime. Unfortunately, since time is fluid and you never know how your actions will affect others, Rem changes his present timeline as soon as he changes the past one. This time I was prepared for the cliffhanger.

These books read like episodes of a TV series that you binge rather than individual books. I’m glad I had book three on hand to continue the saga.

What I enjoyed most about this book:

Page turning suspense and emotional tension

What I didn’t like about this book:

Cannot be read as a standalone

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Would I recommend this book to others? Yes, if you have the entire series available to read at the same time. Thrilling, interesting characters, great premise. This is the second book in this series. It is not a standalone story and needs to be read in order with the rest of the series.

Note: I received this book complimentary from a giveaway. I was not required to give a review. All of the opinions I have expressed here are honest and my own.
