What is this book about?

A lie changed her world. Police Chief Jane Hardy is still reeling from the scandal that rocked her small-town department just as she took over for her retired father–the man who wrecked her life with one little lie. Now she’s finally been reunited with her presumed-dead fifteen-year-old son, Will, and his father, documentarian Reid Dixon.

When a murder aboard the Gulf Coast oil platform, Zeus, exposes an environmental terrorist’s plot to flood Mobile Bay with crude oil, Jane and Reid must put their feelings for each other aside and work together to prevent the looming sabotage.

When the terrorist puts Will’s life on the line, protecting him could be the common ground Jane and Reid need . . . until ghosts from the past threaten to ruin their fragile relationship for good.

Jane has plenty of reasons to run. But what if she stays?

My review:

A murder and an attack plot for an oil platform make Chief Hardy’s life very busy but then the killer comes after her teenage son. Lots of suspense as Jane and Reid attempt to keep their son safe while Jane does her job finding the killer. As if that isn’t enough to keep me turning pages, Jane was also attempting to get in touch with the mother who abandoned her. Emotions ran high which made Jane cautious in the love department. There was lots of romantic tension. While the suspense story was neatly tied up, Jane and Reid’s romance still has more things to be settled.

What I enjoyed most about this book:

Page turning suspense

What I didn’t like about this book:

Romance arc not settled

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Would I recommend this book to others?  Yes. Loads of suspense, gripping emotional conflict, and nice romance. This is the second book in the series. I recommend reading this series in order for the full effect of the romance.
