Welcome 2019! My word for the year

I begin the new year by choosing one word to represent my goals or focus for the year. Sometimes I accomplish them. Other times… like last year… I fall short but still manage to learn something about my self in the process.
My word for 2018 was ‘complete’. I know that God was pushing me to complete one of my writing projects. I wish I could say that I was able to do it, but the truth is that I allowed my fears and doubts to get in the way. While I didn’t actually complete a writing project, I did learn and grow. I thought of continuing the new year with the same word, but after praying about it, I felt that a new word was in order.
As I looked over what I want to accomplish for 2019, one word kept coming to mind. It’s funny how God works, isn’t it? This is the word that I’ve chosen for 2019:
“DILIGENT”
diligent (adj): having or showing care and conscientiousness in one’s work or duties
Now this doesn’t mean that I’ve abandoned my 2018 goal. I still intend to complete at least one of those writing projects. But my 2019 word actually goes hand in hand with that goal. I believe it will take diligence in order to do the work that God has called me to.
It’s a new year and I’m looking forward to the blessings that I pray 2019 will bring. What do you think 2019 will be like? Is there anything that you are hoping for this year? Have you chosen a word for yourself?
