Welcome 2026! My word for the year

I begin the new year by choosing one word to represent my goals or focus for the year. Sometimes I accomplish them. Other times they serve as reminders of the things I want to keep foremost in my life.

My word for 2025 was ‘joyful’. This was my reminder throughout the year that my relationship with God should include joy. While I didn’t focus on the word, after looking back on the year, I realized I have been taking joy in God. My mom was the most joyful person I knew and when my family tells me that I remind them of her when I laugh or take pleasure in things, I know God has giving me a great gift.

Something I’ve been focused on for the last few years has been my prayer life so this year’s word gives me added focus for that. The word I’ve chosen for 2026 is:

“KNEEL”

kneel (verb): assume a position in which the body is supported by the knees, as when praying or showing submission.

What a great reminder to hold my God and King in reverence – to come to His throne in humbleness and expectation.
