What makes a page turner?

Recently, I have been blessed to read books that I consider page turners. You know the ones – you promise yourself that you will put the book down at the end of the paragraph, or page, or chapter. Then you get to that point and you have to know what happens next. You are compelled to keep turning the pages.
This made me think about what makes a book a page turner for me? Specifically, because I read and write romance, what makes a romance page turner? I’m talking about it over at Romance Readers’ Cafe this week.
