What is this book about?

Independent and tenacious journalist Vivian DeMarco is back in Walton, Georgia, for one reason—to do her job and get out. When her boss suddenly dies under suspicious circumstances, Vivian’s only hope for finding the truth—and the next big story—is small-town law enforcement’s lanky poster boy, Deputy Ryan Frost.  But the deeper they dig, the more twisted the truth becomes.  False leads, incriminating emails, and someone called the Watcher force Vivian to fight for answers—and her life.

My review:

I was so excited to see that this story was about Deputy Ryan, who was my favorite law enforcement officer, and the reporter I wasn’t sure I would like from the first book in this series. How would the author get me to like, if not love, Vivian? I didn’t need to worry. In the time between the two books, Vivian and Ryan had both changed and grown. I loved their chemistry right from the beginning.

What would a romantic suspense be without the suspense? This one was filled with it. Who was the Watcher? Who killed Vivian’s boss? Would Ryan and Vivian be able to figure out the mystery before the killer came for them? All was answered but not before I stayed up way past my bedtime to find out.

This was a great balance between the romance and the suspense which can be difficult to accomplish. I also loved that I went from disliking Vivian to loving her by the end.

What I enjoyed most about this book

The journey of Vivian from a person who thought she was unlovable to one who figured out her true worth and found love in the process. Plus I just loved Deputy Ryan and his cute awkwardness from the moment he came on the pages of book one.

What I didn’t like about this book:

I think the nerd/geek pop culture references were a little over the top toward the end of the story. But I still give it my highest rating.

Rating 5 out of 5 stars

Would I recommend this book to others? You bet. A page turning suspense nicely balanced with a sweet romance between two genuinely good characters—this is what I love about reading this genre. This is the second book in this series. It can be read as a standalone.

Note: I received this book complimentary in a giveaway. I was not required to give a review. All of the opinions I have expressed here are honest and my own.
