What is this book about?

Lady Rowena Kinnaird may be the heiress to a Highland earldom, but she has never felt good enough–not for her father, not for the man she thought she’d marry, not for God. But after a shocking attack, she’s willing to be forever an outcast if it means escaping Loch Morar.

Brice Myerston, the Duke of Nottingham, has found himself in possession of a rare treasure his enemies are prepared to kill for. While Brice has never been one to shy away from manor-born ladies, the last thing he needs is the distraction of Lady Rowena, who finds herself in a desperate situation. But when Rowena’s father tries to trap Brice into marrying his daughter, Brice makes a surprising decision.

Rowena wanted to escape the Highlands, but she’s reluctant to marry a notorious flirt. And when she learns that Brice is mixed up in questionable business with a stolen treasure, she fears she’s about to end up directly in the path of everything she was trying to avoid.

My review:

Having been introduced to Brice in book one, I was really excited to see his story. His deep relationship with God was such a pleasure to read about. I loved how the author portrayed a great man of God with such humanity.

Rowena was such a great match for Brice. She was a victim of evil and yet her capability to love was not destroyed. She needed a Godly man with lots of patience which she got with Brice. And she, once she found love, blossomed.

The suspense surrounding the treasure that Brice protected was riveting. And it doesn’t end with this book, the mystery continues in book three…

What I enjoyed most about this book:

Probably Brice’s relationship with God, but also the development of his relationship with Rowena.

What I didn’t like about this book:

Nothing.

Rating 5 out of 5 stars

Would I recommend this book to others? Absolutely. Strong characters, complex spiritual thread and loads of suspense. This is the second book in this series and it can be read as a standalone, but I recommend reading the first book to get the background on jewel mystery.

Note: I received this book complimentary from a giveaway. I was not required to give a review. All of the opinions I have expressed here are honest and my own.
