This week’s book giveaway is for the inspirational contemporary romance book A Portrait of Emily Price (affiliate link) by Katherine Reay.
What is this book about?
Emily Price–fix-it girl extraordinaire and would-be artist–dreams of having a gallery show of her own. There is no time for distractions, especially not the ultimate distraction of falling in love.
But Chef Benito Vassallo’s relentless pursuit proves hard to resist. Visiting from Italy, Ben works to breathe new life into his aunt and uncle’s faded restaurant, Piccollo. Soon after their first meeting, he works to win Emily as well–inviting her into his world and into his heart.
Emily astonishes everyone when she accepts Ben’s proposal and follows him home. But instead of allowing the land, culture, and people of Monterello to transform her, Emily interferes with everyone and everything around her, alienating Ben’s tightly knit family. Only Ben’s father, Lucio, gives Emily the understanding she needs to lay down her guard. Soon, Emily’s life and art begin to blossom, and Italy’s beauty and rhythm take hold of her spirit.
Yet when she unearths long-buried family secrets, Emily wonders if she really fits into Ben’s world. Will the joys of Italy become just a memory, or will Emily share in the freedom and grace that her life with Ben has shown her are possible?

Nature – critters in their natural environment.
As a photographer, I love capturing two things as once. Capturing wild critters in their beautiful environment allows me to do just that. For me, nothing compares! It doesn’t have to be the big and fears critters either (although I’ve done and love those too). It can be a butterfly on a freshly opened flower or a pair of squirrels playing around after having enjoyed some blueberries off our bushes. Going into the wood, it coud be a wild turkey scratching around in the leaves looking for a snack.

I love that Kay. Thanks for commenting. 🙂

My artwork would be inspired by nature. Everyday I experience something even in my own backyard that amazes me, such as the beautiful doe outside my doorwall this morning. I follow you on X as @dhammelef (the entry above closed before I could type my user name, so I must have accidentally hit enter–sorry!).
Loraine
No worries Danielle. I got you covered on the entries. I love your inspiration. Thanks for commenting. 🙂

The colors all around us, in flowers, the sky, water, the mountains, etc. I am a quilter so I like to quilt all kinds of quilts reflecting the glory of God.
Loraine
I love that Faith. I’ve always pointed out beautiful sunsets to my children by telling them that God has his paintbox out. 😉 Thanks for commenting.
Deana Dick
My artwork is inspired by lighthouses. They are a beacon of light where darkness is. That light gives us hope and reminds us that God is always here.
Loraine
Oh I love that Deana. I have a special place in my heart for lighthouses because my husband proposed to me at the top of the Fort Gratiot lighthouse. Thanks for commenting. 🙂
Thomas Gibson
My artwork is a contemporary exploration of the intersection between nature, technology, and human perception. The primary inspirations for my body of work are:
The organic forms and ephemeral beauty of the natural world: I am deeply inspired by the intricate patterns of flora and the transient light in landscapes, drawing heavily from artists such as Georgia O’Keeffe and the Hudson River School for their ability to capture the spiritual essence of nature.
Loraine
Oh my, that’s detailed Thomas. 😮 I’d love to see what artwork would be displayed. Thanks for commenting. 🙂

My artwork would have to be very abstract because I’m a terrible artist.

Perrianne Askew
My Dad and Stepmother would be my inspiration, as they are both very artistically gifted. I didn’t get that gift, but I do consider my quilting my “artwork.” I think I’ve finally convinced my Dad that quilting does count for my artistic creativity.
Loraine
Quilting absolutely counts as artwork. I have several quilts that my mom made that I would show if I had the room in my house. 🙂 Thanks for commenting.
