What is this book about?

Madeline once thought she had everything. Until about three weeks before her wedding when an arsonist set fire to her store killing her husband to be and injuring her. She has relocated to Maine and soon the fires begin again.

Deputy Sheriff Joe Burrows is used to dealing with victims of crimes, but he’s not sure what to make of beautiful forest ranger Maddie LaCroix. She’s convinced there’s an arsonist in the town of Spenceport and that she’s his target.

Joe is determined to find the source of the fires to save lives and set Maddie’s mind at ease. More importantly, he’d like to find a way into her heart, if she’ll let him.

My review:

This story was like getting your sweet fix by taking a bite of cake instead of eating a whole piece.  The suspense was page turning and it kept me on my toes the entire read. The romance was very sweet and definitely slow to build.

Maddie was a traumatized person and it was difficult to watch her struggle, especially when she interacted with Joe. The story was true to her character, but with the length, there wasn’t much time to build a good romance thread.

What I enjoyed most about this book:

Page turning suspense

What I didn’t like about this book:

More suspense than romance

Would I recommend this book to others? Yes. Lots of suspense and sweet but slow building romance. This is a standalone novel.
