What is this book about?
After five unsuccessful Seasons on the marriage mart, Miss Adelaide Duveen has resigned herself to the notion that she’s destined to remain a spinster forever–a rather dismal prospect, but one that will allow her to concentrate on her darling cats and books. My review:
From the very start of this story Adelaide and Gideon deal with unique and funny circumstances. I really enjoyed the sweet romance and affection that developed between them. The author always throws animals in the mix and I so enjoyed that in this book, particularly Gideon’s interactions with them. This story also had an interesting mystery complete with spies and a room of weapons. The banter between characters was fun, if a little bit drawn out, but I did giggle a few times wading through the quick comebacks.
What I enjoyed most about this book:
The genuine affection between Adelaide and Gideon
What I didn’t like about this book:
Lots of drawn out conversations
Would I recommend this book to others? Yes. Wonderful characters put into funny situations and a sweet romance. This is the second book in this series. It can be read as a standalone.
