This weekβs book giveaway is for the inspirational dual time romance, Specters in the Glass House (affiliate link) by Jaime Jo Wright.
What is this book about?
In 1921, Marian Arnold, the heiress to a brewing baron’s empire, seeks solace in the glass butterfly house on her family’s Wisconsin estate as Prohibition and the deaths of her parents cast a long shadow over her shrinking world. When Marian’s sanctuary is invaded by nightmarish visions, she grapples with the line between hallucinations of things to come and malevolent forces at play in the present. With dead butterflies as the killer’s ominous signature, murders unfold at a steady pace. Marian, fearful she might be next, enlists the help of her childhood friend Felix, a war veteran with his own haunted past.
In the present day, researcher Remy Shaw becomes entangled in an elderly biographer’s quest to uncover the truth behind Marian Arnold’s mysterious life and the unsolved murders linked to an infamous serial killer. Joined by Marian’s great-great-grandson, can Remy expose the evil that lurks beneath broken wings? Or will the dark legacy surrounding the manor and its glass house destroy yet another generation?

There is an historical tree in the park. Many years ago a young couple carved their names in the tree. They promised to meet there every year at the same time. Years passed and the tree grew taller and stronger. Thst tree became a place for others to enjoy a picnic by. They each carved their initials in the. tree. On the 30th anniversary of the small town the original two young people came back to celebrate with everyone. They had gotten married and learned that many marriages had taken place under that special tree.

The strangest legend I share is about the lady who supposedly died during a storm, but her body was never found. Her ghost appears to a different person on the anniversary of the storm every year, and that person falls victim to a deadly accident sometime in the following months.

Oh, now that is spooky! Thanks for sharing, Danielle. π

I had to look up legends on the Oregon coast where I live so I’m not as familiar with them. Here’s one I found interesting and would tell my library patrons:
You’ve heard of the Loch Ness monster of course, but here on the Oregon coast we have our own “Nessie”. Several sea Captains reported seeing a 40-50 foot sea creature back in the 1930’s near the Columbia River Bar. They named this legendary monster “Colossal Claude”.
Now wouldn’t that be a fantastic story to tell? π
Thank you for the chance to won a copy of Jaime Jo Wright’s book!

I would have my author husband write a story about a cat that got lost in the library & now surprises patrons by rubbing up next to them or brushes against there arm as they’re in the library aisles.

I would share one of the many stories I heard while I was visiting Charleston SC and Natchez MS. They had lots of stories of haunted places and stories of strange things happening in the South. It has to be one of the most haunted places in the country.
Loraine
I think if you look hard enough you can find scary stories of most places. Thanks for sharing, Dianne. π

The strangest legend I share with my patrons is about a Victorian woman who supposedly appears in the library every Christmas Eve, searching for a book that was never returned. According to the story, she died waiting for her fiancΓ©, who had promised to meet her there but never arrived. The oddest part? Every year, a book mysteriously appears on the checkout desk, open to the same page, with a handwritten message that reads, βIβm still waiting.β
Loraine
Wow, goose bumps up and down my arms! Thanks for sharing, Natalya. π
